Wonder Woman Origin by AdamHughes Wonder Woman Origin by AdamHughes
Here's some different stuff: a two-page Wonder Woman origin story which appeared as a backup in their maxiseries 52. Story by Mark Waid, pencils and inks by me and colors by Laura Martin, under my direction.

I did this (and the Powergirl origin) to try to shake the storytelling rust off while getting ready for drawing ALL-STAR WONDER WOMAN (my current miniseries project).

I think it's decent work, and it was fun drawing Diana's origin. I think I MAY be the first artist in DC's history to get away with drawing Wonder Woman's nipples (the baby shot on panel 4 of page 1) in one of their comics.

I like the mix of hard lines and soft gradations. I also like seeing the different parts of her life.

It has such a strong feel of a living Themyscira. It is amazing how well -and seemingly effortlessly- you balance grace and power in your work!

I love the final panel of her looking out to the horizon all majestic-like, very nice. Seriously, this is beautiful work (not shocking since is is you xD)

Also, kudos on the nips xD

There's a very Mucha-esque-ness going on here that I like very much.
With each panel you've gone into such detail with the depth, angle her surroundings and I love the whole thing :D

Incredible art as always AH... As for your story telling you're doing a great job! You have magnificent depth of field, solid leading lines and a great "Z" flow throughout both pages.. You've left plenty of room for words and it doesn't look crowded or cluttered. I'm already eager to buy!!

Thanks for sharing.. I'm a big fan!!

Diana and Clark have a whole lot in common with their origins.

I recently did a series of concepts based on my own little faux JLA animated movie, and I feel no shame in saying that this image was a tremendous inspiration for me!

Beautiful pages (of course!) I especially like the last panel on the first page. There's so many other ways to compose this shot but none as dynamic or evocative.

I've seen this piece of yours so many times online and I actually love the baby Wonder Woman, she's so cute looking and from a lot of WW comics that I've seen and from ones i own, I think your the only illustrator so far who has designed a proper view of the character in a child-like way.
Have you made other child versions of her?.

You don't usually see WW as a young child, or any other hero generally.

In so few panels you create a world we'd all love to visit. It's so real you want to touch it, then step into it. Some of it reminds me of the fantastic worlds of Maxfield Parrish. Awesome!

Man, I *love* these two page origin stories. Talk about efficient storytelling-- even without the type you get a sense of what's happening.

I love how they start with a big attention grabber, like a Bond film's opening action scene, and end with a portrait. Nice little book-ends.

Awesome! I would absolutely love to have the bottom right corner picture as a tattoo. It's a beautiful and noble portrayal of Diana.

wow what a great montage, I love Wonder Woman, yet the guy at the comic book store said only gay men come in and pic up her stuff, and he was quite serious when he said it

I like the way that you portray Diana visually. You make her strong but feminine at the same time.
You are extremely talented and I enjoy how you render Diana as she is my favourite hero! : )

I found this image and freaked because I thought it was interiors for All Star Wonder Woman. I have seen much on line about proposed release dates and such. Any chance you can give us some skinny on how the project is doing. Or how about just letting a few select fans (and their parents or grandparents) into your secret studio to see how the work is coming.. you could make it like a prize for a contest... or like maybe little "Golden Hughes Tickets" in a select few packages of printed Adam Hughes Chewing Gum Collectible Cards. The finders could tour your fabulous workshop and meet your fabled diminutive , but spunky, studio assistants the "Hughmpa Lughmpas".
I would buy tons of that gum:-)

You draw THE best Wonder Woman ever! You and Alex Ross's work are proof that comic books are a leginimate art form. I'm in tenth grade, and in a few years I'll be going to college for my art degree, and I hope I get to work with you one day! :) Quick question, though. How long does it take for you to complete a cover? Just curious..... :)
