Here's my UNCHARTED cover, done for SONY as a giveaway poster at San Diego Comic-Con 2011, and then used as a variant cover for DC Comics' UNCHARTED comic last month. The Drake face is different than the poster version: I redid it because I didn't think I came close to the way Drake looks in the game. This is a little closer, but it usually takes me 5 to 7 attempts before I get close to a character.

I love the UNCHARTED games. This cover was designed as an homage to Drew Struzan's INDIANA JONES movie posters. Imagine my surprise when Drew himself was standing at my table at San Diego, saying hi and thumbing through my portfolio...

Dude. Why aren't you doing movie posters? This sort of story promotioning is EXACTLY what's missing in film these days. The charaters are memorable and expressive. I can pretty much surmise their personalities just from this single image. The map tenders a globe trotting exhileration to it, the main character a sense of gruff pragmatic suspense and danger; which is punctuated tastefully by the dynamic action pose of the bottom character, smuggling treasure under her arm, and the skull in the back ground. This is a smart, incredibly eyecatching composition, man. Way to be a badass.

Sorry if I gushed too much over your work just then. I've been kind of on a movie poster rant/kick for the past two hours. I'm just so tired of how starved story promotions are for description. Like in the new Star Trek poster...what the fuck is that supposed to be? I have no context, no clues whatsoever as to the significance of that image. There's no characters, no flavor, no real hints at the overall story: its just a caliginous pile of slag pile and a big gaping hole. Symbolic of the budget and script I have no doubt.
