That's MISS Marvel, Thank You by AdamHughes That's MISS Marvel, Thank You by AdamHughes
Client: Private Commission
Media: pencil, PITT Pen, COPIC Marker, Prismacolor pencil

Another gaurenteed convention sketch, won by auction on eBay. The winner wanted Ms. Marvel in her original outfit but with her modern hair, and a very specific pose.

Always give the client what they want!

Uh, no.  No, it wasn't.  I read that book when it first came out and a) the bare belly was gone within a couple of issues, b) Chris Claremont fought the stupid scarf until Marvel let him remove it, and c) SHE WAS NEVER "MISS" MARVEL, SHE WAS MS. MARVEL FROM THE BEGINNING!!!!!

Good GOD.  If you're going to bother drawing a character, GET IT RIGHT!!!!!!

I'm sorry, perhaps it's because I'm not an English native speaker, but what is the difference between "Miss" and "Ms."?
Just asking, honestly!

Miss and Mrs. indicate the marital status of a woman. Ms. doesn't, just like Mr. doesn't indicate whether the man it refers to is married or not.

Oh!
(then again, no equivalent for men indicate a married status, right?)

How do you read/say "Ms."? Wikiepedia's page en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ms. only gave me a "Mistress"...?

I think it's just pronounced Miz (with a hard z, instead of s as in Miss). Wikipedia actually says: normally /ˈmɪz/ when stressed; when unstressed, either /ˈmɪz/, /mɨz/, /məz/ or /məs/

And yeah, there is no way to indicate whether or not the man is married though a honorific.

You should totally do a follow-up piece to this that says "That's CAPTAIN Marvel, Thank You." :)... if you haven't already, that is.
