Teen Titans Lineart by AdamHughes Teen Titans Lineart by AdamHughes
Here's the line art for the Teen Titans cover, as well as the little doodle concept sketches I did for my art director.

As I didn't have a lot of time on this one, I didn't have the opportunity to re-invent the wheel. Sometimes the basics/classics are good enough to get the job done...

The concept sketches put you in the mind of what could have been. Like the end result.

ha HA!--DUDE we're sympatico!:highfive:one of my favorite comics growing up was "the all-new teen titans"! that george perez artwork was practically unbeatable. hell, that was the only comic book i read from dc! everything else was marvel: the sub-mariner, spider-man, the incredible hulk, fantastic four, alpha flight, and how can i leave out the uncanny x-men? the hellfire club series as well as the phoenix saga was legendary as well as their epic battles against the brotherhood of evil mutants!

Re-inventing the wheel is impossible, you know. But your pencils are magical enough to make us dream of different and interesting and original brand new wheels.

Hey Adam great job, their inks are just as spectacular as the inks of the powerful Mark Farmer.
What do you think about the work of Mark Farmer it is one of his references to a ink like this?

Cheers!

Rob!

Very sweet composition, almost a shame to have Starfire popped out of it so strongly in the final printed version.

I love Starfire's hair, that is just beautiful. Whenever I want to see how to illustrate hair I always turn to your stuff, inked or sketched, because I think there's none better.

And...nice Rhino!.

it's so weird to see the quality of your finished work (which is AMAZING), and then see that you start out with little scribbles like the rest of us. I refuse to believe it. @__@

The funny thing is...

All four compositions are workable win

I'm pretty sure you've crossed over that threshold: you can't draw a crappy picture.
You just think you can.

I actually prefer the altered poses in the finished version. I think that your decision to move the Rhino back a little helped the composition, and kept the focus on the hand of the big chick(don't know her name). The Rhino is definitely my favorite part of this...Love that texture. Really great work here as usual. Its a little different from some of your other stuff(Maybe because you don't usually draw group shots) but I really like it. My only gripe is the scan isn't bigger...Some of those effects you did look amazing from what I can see, I just wish I could see all the little details :)
