This was an illustration done for WIZARD magazine a while back, when the first SPIDER-MAN movie came out.

I lovedlovedLOVED Spider-Man when I was a kid, and I've only ever drawn the character once, professionally. This assignment was a real treat, because I got to draw Gwen Stacy! I read the 'Death of Gwen Stacy' when it came out, as a kid, and it had a BIG effect on me. Back in those days, when a Marvel character died, they STAYED dead. And it had WEIGHT to to it. Gwen Stacy, Adam Warlock, Captain Marvel, JEAN GREY.

Someday I hope to finish this piece. Because of deadline constraints, I had to go for a more flat-color rendering style on this one.

This is a great job.
In the mood of recent comments... I believe MJ is Spidey's true love. But Gwen is unforgettable, and I like the way Adam portrayed her... along with autumn leaves.

I actually think for Spider-Man, the flat-color rendering actually works better. With his humor, motions, and colorful cast, I always thought Spider-Man was perfect for a less realistic style, and more cartoonish. Even though, and it's perfectly clear here, he's one of the least two-dimensional characters in comics. I absolutely love this picture for that. It pretty much says all of what you need to know about the character.

Also, for a character who's pretty much fortune's punching bag, he sure is lucky with the ladies.

I couldn't imagine this piece with any other coloring style. The color is magnificent for the piece, you feel the true spirit of the REAL spiderman and the comics, this piece is more than just a cover, it's a beautiful breathtaking work of art and your style, such smooth lines and careful work and gorgeous detail in all the right places. This piece is a marvel. I would pay a lot of money to have JUST a piece of it on my wall.
