Lara is cool in the games, but you Adam, you actually breathe life into the character, your Lara Croft is the most beautiful and natural ever. I'd kill to own a Lara from you. :P

Adam, THANK you for providing this most awesome statue, I've ever seen O.O
After all those TR you already did, I have no clue, how you still manage to come up with new ideas and poses.
I love this one and just HAD to have it.

This one is just about my favourite of all the greyscales of yours I've seen. Lara is always fantastic, that's a given, but this one is worth the price of admission just for the way that the equipment and boxes are rendered. The icing on the gateaux is the snow on her boots - magnificent.

I love how she actually looks like a serious explorer here, and not just a rich bimbo. Great job!

Oh yeah! Do I read Peru down there?
I loved Lara since the first game and loved the game for starting in Peru. Great job as always. I look forward to seeing the finished sculpture.

Beautiful!

Hey Adam, where do you get your inking brushes from and which do you prefer to use? I've always had trouble finding a really good, high quality brush that will come to that super-fine point and stay there. I've also been hesitant to order online since I can't inspect the brushes.

Thanks in advance!

Go to this website:

I use the Series 3000 - Kolinsky Red Sable "Fine Line", sizes 3 and 4.

These are the guys I buy from, and a flat of brushes from them will yield a lot of winners.

Hey Adam, thanks for the info!

I'm going to be drawing a short, backup for a friend's book and I'm not too hip on digital inks just yet only colors. And I use a mouse for that too. I have a tablet but it doesn't work as well as a mouse does for me. For example; I like how I can "speed click" a mouse to get certain things happening that doesn't work, at least for me, with a tablet.

I think that's why I've seen a lot of artists keep both mouse & tablet handy.

Yeah, I bet. I couldn't see myself ditching my mouse and use the tablet exclusively.

Thanks again for your replies!

Sorry for the dumb question, but what do you mean by bleed-proof white?

This piece rocks!

:iconadamhughes:

No worries.

It's a white paint-used for touch-ups.

It's called bleed-proof because (I think) no ink will bleed through it once applied. Some inks and dyes will come through white paint because of some of the chemicals in them.

thanks Adam. I've been looking for a good white application for highlights. I tried white ink in Rapidiographs, but over black it just ends up more of a gray, not the hot white. Any tips for fine lines in white or is an itsy-bitsy brush the best way to go?

Like inking with India ink, it all depends on the brush.
A quality brush will come to a super-fine point, regardless of it's size.

Very beautiful.

But this just doesn't feel like Lara in the face. I think it's because her lips have always been very plump, more so than an average woman. Although I prefer more realistic lips, it just don't look like her.

TRhat's an aesthetic decision.
If you make her lips as big as they were in the original games, but depict the rest of her realistically, she looks like someone who's had a collagen injection.

This is true, and that is what's so fun about art. You can do anything from photo realistic to completely over the top. All that matters is it looks good.

Wonderful piece ! You really created a personality for Lara , she has a better personality than the one she has got in the video games. I think they really should call you to give some ideas just like they called Paul Dini for Batman Arkham Asylum.
When you see the way the character of Assassins Creed is moving, watching poor Lara is heart-breaking !
for me Adam Hughes working on a lara Croft video game is a great idea !
