OESwoman by AdamHughes OESwoman by AdamHughes
To bid on this slice of hilarity:

OK, lemme explain...

I have two Olde English Sheepdogs, and the Atlanta OES Rescue is having a little eBay fundraiser starting tonight. I'll post the link as soon as the auction goes up. All moneys raised go to helping dogs (specifically Olde English Sheepdogs) get into good, loving homes.

This goofy bit of whimsy is my contribution! If you're new to the gallery, I did the covers for DC Comic's CATWOMAN for a number of years. This glorified convention sketch is a fake cover showing Selina 'Catwoman' Kyle switching from Team Cat to Team Dog (very reluctantly!)

20" X 14", pencil, Pitt pen, and COPIC marker (warm and cool grey) on Strathmore Drawing paper.

I have a serious sinus headacha, and I loathe Christmas.

If anyone feels the need to rail against me for asking for charitable donations for a dog and not a human (like the last time I tried toget help for a dog in need)...

1. I've donated a bunch of money recently to cancer research, because my older cousin Bobby Coates, who gave me first comics (including Fantastic Four #81) as hand-me-downs when I was a child, died of liver cancer in November. I also donate to Veterans charities. So, no grief about helping dogs, ok? I help people when I can, as well.

2. If you DO feel the need to post something negative about the subject of my helping animals, even as a joke, I will ban you from my gallery. I'm not kidding. The last time I tried to be a decent person and help an animal in need, some people felt the need to make my life miserable.

3. If you DO object to any of my minor charitable endeavors, and feel the need to post about it here, to my face... do the world a favor and take the time & energy you would waste posting your hateful drivel, and donate $5 to some charitable endeavor you DO approve of. No trolling, no flaming, just shut up and do something nice with your disapproving energy.

That's just for the small, SMALL handful of people out there that just enjoy disharmony, anarchy, and making me unhappy. As for the many, many wonderful people who really make this gallery a reaffirming pleasure to maintian:

Merry Krismahanuukwanzikah!

You know what makes you such a lethal art ninja? Your ability to not only draw/ink/paint/photoshop... it's your skill at digging out emotion from a sheet of paper and some ink. I can't see enough of your work. I can't. I can't do it. No way. :)

I've been looking at your cat woman art for the past few years and it just hit me...She reminds me of Audrey Hepburn.

This is fantastic. The dogs turned out great!! I can't believe that people would troll you about donating to help animals in need.. What is wrong with this world. Keep up the awesome work.

I love your Selina Kyle artwork!!! <3 she is so beautiful and stunning. She must take from Audrey Hepburn; she looks just like her. But with a more sensual edge x]

This is hilarious. Loved coming across it in my recently purchased copy of "Slayboy." Took me a minute to figure it all out...but it's funny, and superbly if anything you do is not.

This is so unbelievably cute and amazing! What a great way to raise money - way to be! I really love the little nose on the goggles :)

Thank you very much!
Your style is ridiculously beautiful. Even when drawing totally ridiculous subjects. And those dogs are adorable; as an active member of the RSPCA (even though my specialty is cats) I think what you do is wonderful <3

Make hate comments? No way, my mom didn' raise no fool...

The only "negative" thing I could say that looking at that suit make me itchy.. (sitting here in 87% humidity)

Sorry about the sinus headache...

...i just got the joke right now...

(to be fair, the art blew me away 6 months ago, that i didn't even realize there was a joke in there, too)

Oh how could I have missed this piece! Having lived with one of those all-nose-and-no-eyes dogs for nearly 11 years I know this goes for a good cause. It's been nearly 2 years since his passing and (of course) I think he was the greatest dog ever lived. Memory lane aside I also adore Audrey's beauty so all I can see in this work of art is double (triple) win. =)

she always remembers me Audrey Hepburn... Love the cause and the picture

What an awesome cover! :D

I'm so sad that I only found it now. Of course, the reality is, the bidding went waaaay beyond what my budget can take (even for a worthy charitable cause. Winning bid was $2,551! You rock! Take that, bitter complain-y people!)

People seriously gave you a hard time about doing charitable work simply because it was for animals? I wish life had a "ban" button...

Boy it's a sad state of affairs when a guy "jus' tryin' tah help" gets such crap, that he has to give such an explanation/warning because of some really monumentally stupid people. I mean, come on, who doesn't love dogs, all dogs, okay, maybe not those little yippy things, but like real, happy fuzzy wagging bundles of love and fun?!
And I'm glad this piece fetched some nice coin for the fuzzy kids.
That being said, Adam what Reindeer pooped in your stocking to make you loathe Christmas? I mean, Santa hasn't exactly visited me regularly in the last, nearly, decade and a half, but I'm still generally okay with the whole "Christmess" Season.
And a happy Chrismachanaquanza to all!

LoL! Ahem, enjoyed the *Bad Mood Warning!* Ya know, in the military, leaders often "joke" that 5% of soldiers (and their problems/issues/attitudes) take up 95% of the leaders' time and energy... and I have personally found this to be true, in principle. It is unfortunate that, perhaps, a similar proportion of maladjusted peeps can inspire such a bad mood warning.

Love the work, btw, and I picked up a full spectrum set of warm and cool grey copics to play with just because of your works, such as the one above, here on dA!

I think it's quite honorable helping animals in need Mr. Hughes. And your Selina Kyle could be dressed in a trash bag and still look :)

firstly, i have to say: your art is beautiful, every time you post something. so when i see that you're doing something like this, for a canine charity, it thrills me even more.

i'm studying to be a vet tech, and love dogs more than i love art, or anything else in my life. as i type this, one of my own dogs is lying on my bed next to me, asleep.

not enough humans realize the problems we have with canine mistreatment, puppy mills, abuse, and overpopulation. and as you posted, people don't realize how much work a dog is. it's really helping restore my faith in people seeing you post this. so thank you for getting the message out there! it's much appreciated.
