Infamous Mary Jane litho/print for Sideshow Collectibles. A fun drawing, a cute idea, all kinda ruined by some people who don't have the ability to see anything that exists outside their agendas.
Much fuss made about Mary Jane doing Spider-Man's laundry, to which I respond with: who the hell does laundry in a basket on a table? Even if they are so poor that they don't own their own washing machine, you'd hand-wash clothes in the SINK. Maybe she's not doing his laundry.... maybe this is about that classic couple moment when someone finds out their partner's dirty little secret in the wash? Maybe THAT makes mroe sense?
Also: I'm much funnier than that. If I was ACTUALLY going to do a statue/print about Mary Jane doing Spider-Man's laundry, it would be a HELL of a lot funnier. Washboard, do-rag, apron..... Mary Jane would've had a really dirty look on her face that said "You bastard... I better get breakfast in bed for this!!!"
Bottom line: look at my other 20+ years of work. Yes, i darw overly sexy women. But they are all powerful women in control of their own lives. Why would I become a mysogynist overnight, do this peice, and then go back to my previous behavior?
I wish people would redirect their anger & energies in productive ways.
Don't worry, feminists and feminism aren't reasonable, and I doubt they're much happier with your portrayal of other women as strong and desirable (because that's obviously just setting the bar too high for real women to live up to and creating false expectations in boys........).
There's nothing you can do that would make you immune to some form of criticism from some feminist angle or another. Either you're being a sexist for drawing the girls too sexy, or you're a misogynist not making women feminine enough....
understand your frustration, sir - but really, what is wrong with the wife doing her husband's laundry?...and THAT's right! she better get breakfast in bed and a foot massage...it's a give and receive partnership, darn it!
cheers!

BTW, always have enjoyed your artistic ability to draw AWESOME females, sir!
Great piece! And I do agree with you some people just see the sexist pov in things even these days. I'm sure any married woman with a sense of humor could appreciate this if they're open minded. ;3 Keep up the good work and to hell with the nay-sayers bashing this whimsical bits like this. Given the state of the world we need a few more good laughs and less sobs.
