ImaginFX 67 Cover by AdamHughes ImaginFX 67 Cover by AdamHughes
Year: 2011
Client: Imagine FX magazine
Media: Media: Pencil, PITT Pen and COPIC marker on Strathmore Drawing paper, then colored with Adobe Photoshop CS2.

On sale in the United Kingdom on February 8th! It will be available in North America a few weeks afterwards...

Here's the link for the digital version! [link]

A comic-centric issue, issue 67 contains (among other things) a tutorial on how I colored this piece. I had a limited amount of space, so I focused on the digital aspects of the process (it being a magazine about digital graphics).

Not to worry! Right here on DA, I will post a step-by-step about the rendering of the actual physical art, including tools, pitcures, and tips about techniques. So, basically, you get the whole story if you keep an eye on my DA gallery and also find a copy of the issue (which is also available as a digital download; GOOGLE it).

Check out how I drew the art before I colored it: [link]

Very lovely but I can't help but wonder why you didn't make the gloves as smooth as the boots or goggle straps.
Either way I really do love it. (:

Stunning, as always, Mr. Hughes! Looking forward to the tutorial here on DA, (unless you've already posted and I missed it? Will have to dig around...) and will check out the tutorial in the issue as well. And thanks!

This is awesome, great mag too.
I used to HATE your art back in the days!!
I don't know if it was the expressions you used or your style...
Years later I rediscovered your art online and was blown away.
Few artists progress like you have once they are in the industry,
not that you care what I think...
Now I am amazed by every piece you do! I aspire to hone my skills like you and
be a name in the industry to inspire others.
O.K. I'll quit whining now...AG

I got this (two copies) when it came out over here in the UK on the eighth - it's just fantastic!!! I realy would love to see you drawing Catwoman again. The tutorial was fantastic and now I know WHY you love the nose LOL :)
I'd love to see you draw a few covers for Gotham City Sirens, and I'd really love to meet you and Alishon in the UK. We're having our first ever Comic-con in London this year - is there any chance you gys could fit us in next year? I know you need an invite - so I'm inviting you, you can stay at mine LOL :) (you just have to graffiti over all my walls with your beautiful gals)

Well, as soon as I see teh final product, I'll let you know.

As it stands, I think she's a fine choice. Like Christian Bale or Michael Caine, I don't think she's definitive, but she's definitely interesting.
