The problem here Adam is that your Snow White has a VERY Adam-Hugh-esque face, very recognizable to your fans. On the other side, Katy Perry happens to have that playful Adam-Hugh-esque face too, so many people end up relating them. Mainly because of the black hair and blue eyes. The brain does those kind of tricks. We tend to relate what we see to things we already know (or get bombarded with). To me actually (being 41) the relation that comes to mind is a Lynda Carter in her teens. Whatever relation we make, this Snow White is a masterpiece, as everyone of your 'girls' is.
I wish people would quit saying she looks like Katy Perry. SHE LOOKS NOTHING LIKE HER. Adam- I love this piece. I met you at the comic convention in Minnesota this October, and I must say it was very nice to finally be able to meet you. You make wonderful art, and don't let these Katy Perry enthralled people get to you. All I see is another wonder Adam Hughes piece! Keep up the awesome work my friend.
No problem! I wanted to thank you for signing the Cover Run book and sketching the Catwoman side profile in it as well. I really appreciated that. It made my day. Well more like it made my entire year. (I made you the little Catwoman trading card in Minnesota. I hope you enjoyed it! Not nearly as good as your work but I tried. :]) Don't let misunderstandings stop you from creating the awesome work you're dedicated to!
Well, I think you're wrong, but I'm obviously in the minority. Every third post is "She looks like Katy Perry!".
I think it's just the black hair and blue eyes; she bears no actual physical resemblance to Katy Perry. If she had a different hair color, no one would say be saying 'Katy Perry!" Katy Perry is one of those flavor-of-the-month celebrities that everyone is seeing everywhere & thinking about, so they make some sort of connection and draw a conclusion.
It's like drawing the Baroness or Bayonetta and EVERYONE starts screaming "Sarah Palin!" It has nothing to do with anything, but because the character is a brunette with glasses, Palin is all people see.
You didn't offend me, and I apologize if I came across as angry. Please understand how frustrating it can be when everyone focuses on just one aspect of a piece you worked very hard on, and on TOP of that, the focus is on something completely unrelated to the piece.
