When I first saw this, I thought you were implying this was your current place of residence. To think, SUCH AN EPIC COMIC BOOK ARTIST LIVING IN THE CATACOMBS. It makes for an epic story, even if it is a little far-fetched. xD
I was in the catacombs last week when I was in Paris. Adam, I think your description of them is pretty succinct and accurate. I will also add that the care and artistry displayed by the people who stacked the bones is quite remarkable.
What you're standing underneath, does that say "C'est ici l'empire de la mort"? That's kinda creepy, ain't it? Here is the empire of death. I wish I'd gone to the Catacombs when I went to Paris. I shoulda gone again, but luck run out. (That and money.) How was it?!?!
I went there too !!! do you feel the cold along your spine and do you feel like a dead soul walking through the corridor ? exiting experience ! imagine the whole underground of Paris is like that on many kilometers !
Hmm.... let's see. How about Clive Owen, working in some lonely artist's garret on some wind-swept coast?
You really put me on the spot, Mr. Hughes. And surprised the crap out of me by replying. I can't say where or when I first became aware of your artwork, but I have been blown away by it ever since. Thanks for sharing it with the world. And thanks for replying to my comment.
It sounds bit more romantic that way, but I'm not certain. Why you're choosing to attempt to correct a comment on someone else's page I've no idea. Maybe you're just offering your opinion. The literal translation is: "Stop, It's the empire of the dead." It could mean Death's Empire (all caps, so hard to associate proper nouns), could also mean 'realm of the dead/Death's Realm' or any other variations of that. The comment was in case people who didn't know french knew or had at least an idea of just exactly where it was he was standing
Now that I look again, heh, it says "C'est ici l'empire de la mort." That actually has a more country/cowboy kind of feel: "This here's the realm of the dead." I missed the 'ici' (right here) the first time. Spooky!
