Catwoman 64 by AdamHughes Catwoman 64 by AdamHughes
Here's the colored version; please check out the black & white line art in the gallery.

I scan the art into my computer with an Epson Expression 836XL oversized scanner. I then clean up the scan in Photoshop.

I convert the file to CMYK Mode, with the lineart as a 5th Channel, visible but not active. The CMYK Channel is white, so that the practical effect is coloring on a black white area, with the art 'floating' above it. Visible, but unaltered unless I shoose to do so.

You are formally invited to join my challenge/contest thing due to your skill with comic characters. Read on to find out more.

I am trying to create a comic book, but my drawing skills are, well, lacking. Even spending hours on a drawing, proportions and just general believability simply are not my thing. So, the idea of this is that you will help out by sending me sketches and then I'll choose someone (or multiple people) to collaborate with.
I've got the story idea, and the characters and logistics of it worked out, but I need an artist. Draw the main character, preferably in a heroic pose, though I'll accept anything (no pornography, please).

Construct (aka Valarie Cummings)

Age: 16 (though I have another storyline in which she is 27, so take your pick)

Height: 5'

Weight: 108 lbs

Race: Caucasian/Adatelian (Adatelian is an alien race with purple-tinged skin and very little hair. This is on her mother's side)

Hair: Short (think Halle Berry or Natalie Portman length) and some outrageous color (she is constantly dying it)

Eyes: Dark Brown as Valarie (have fun with Construct)

Build: Slightly muscular with an hourglass figure

Markings/Daily Wear: Biker-girl or Punk tattoos/piercings (otherwise, don't bother with them). Modern

Intelligence: Slightly above average (technically low-scale genius, excels in languages, history, and literature)

Speed: Average for a young woman with moderate exercise

Strength: Average for a young woman with moderate exercise

Stamina: Above average, due to less need for oxygen

Combat: Untrained at first , later learns kickboxing and karate

Powers: Creates purple (or whatever color scheme you choose) mental constructs which remain in existence until she destroys them (they do not disappear if she loses focus). "shallow breathing" (requires less oxygen). Later develops mild telekinesis.

Weapons: Force field mental construct (nothing can get in or out). Mental construct daggers. Mental construct Colt Anaconda (the only type of gun she knows well enough to create. Here's a site for pictures and some background: [link]). Anything else she can create. Later finds Adatelian sword/staff.

Costume: Recommended Purple and Silver. Nothing slutty. Wears every day clothing for fighting until later when she constructs her own costume (so have it match whatever construct weapons she has). Either comfortable like Lara Croft or protective. Remember physics and what it means for girls, please

Favorite Color: Purple

Pet: Black cat with green eyes named Elwyn (Ellie)

General: Prefers nighttime, enjoys reading and writing, not good with computers, independent, gives off a vibe of being cruel or violent (though is very sweet and loyal)

REMEMBER PHYSICS!!!! (if it would break your back, don't make her do it)

Thank you.

Just so you know some git has this image listed under his own gallery. All the writing under the picture is in Spanish so I'm not sure what his justification for it is.

This is just stunning! Your art is so detailed and perfect, it's amazing. That pose looks like it could have been awkward, but your sense of anatomy and motion is so perfect that it looks incredibly natural. I love the drama and the dynamic quality of this cover.

Yeah! My favorite bad-girl lookin' hot! Lovely sense of height in this picture! I really think it looks great. The stark contrast between the dark buildings and the rest of the city is jarring but give the picture a nice sense of movement and also makes the world beyond cat womans enclosure look absolutely freezing!

i've looked into big scanners, before (11x17) and they start at $1,000. so yeah, unless you go professional and can write it off or have a lot of extra money, the rest of us are pretty much doomed to scanning a section at a time and putting it together in photoshop.

interesting, one thousand dollars would be 8000 rands...hmmm...Id rather get a Cintiq for that price, or a camera. See cause with a cintiq, I would feel more comfortable drawing everything.

yeah, for about $600 you can get a 20 inch tablet monitor, which allows you to just draw on the screen, with the stylus.

$600 we talking wacom here? a Cintiq? wow, on the wacom site it advertises the smallest one at $1000...pretty expensive, but still worth it.
